I wanted to share this news with HVGS readers. Sad to hear that Kingston Fleischers location is closing. They have the most incredible roast beef I’ve ever tasted! Well, if you want to say good-bye, stop in to their store on March 18th. More details from them below.
“After serving the Hudson Valley community for 13 years, Fleishers Craft Butchery is closing their beloved butcher shop in Uptown Kingston, NY after receiving news last month that the historic building is up for sale. The last day open for business is Saturday March 18th, when customers and staff alike can expect a day-long gathering with delicious food, local beer and a memorabilia auction to benefit O+positive, a local organization the company has supported for the last seven years. Over the next two weeks Fleishers loyal fans, apprentice alums, former colleagues and farm partners are invited to visit the shop to say goodbye and stock up on custom cuts of beef, pork and lamb, Certified Humane poultry, handmade sausages, and local dairy and provisions.
Fleishers was founded in 2004 to provide the best alternative to factory farmed meat – pioneering the pasture-to-plate movement with classes and story-telling in order to connect customers with where their meat comes.
Former CEO Ryan Fibiger is shifting his role to chairman of the board. Former COO Samantha Garwin, now interim CEO says: “Closing the original Fleishers shop is bittersweet – we’re saddened to lose this limb off our family tree, but excited about what the future holds. We are grateful for every single customer and restaurant that has joined in our mission to build an alternative food system.” Fleishers is working on summer packages for pick up to make transporting Meat Raised Right convenient for Hudson Valley weekenders. The team is also seeking out retail partners established in the Hudson Valley to carry their popular staples like uncured bacon, 100% grass-fed beef jerky and smoked sausages available in their absence. Closing Kingston allows Fleishers to focus on their existing four local butcher shops in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Westport & Greenwich, CT, and as of this August, Manhattan’s Upper East Side (1325 Third Avenue at 76th St).”
