Duo Bistro started serving dinner last night, so I was very eager to taste their bistro dinners. Chef Juan Romero said it was pretty busy yesterday. It was quiet when I arrived there today for an early dinner. I started with the avocado crips, which kind of reminded me of tempura, but the citrus sauce had a bit of chutney flavor to it–the perfect spice for a heatwave. For my main course, I had the Skate Frites. I don’t think I have ever tried skate before. It was fried to perfection and not heavy like fish and chips. For dessert I had the flour-less chocolate hazelnut marquis with fresh whipped cream and berries. This dessert is gluten-free to boot! Not that I’m watching my gluten these days, but it was very rich and good! The bread was also outrageous.
DuoBistro hopes to get their liquor license by mid-Summer, but I have to tell you, I don’t need the alchohol. The food alone is intoxicating! Duo Bistro, 50 John Street, Kingston, NY (845) 383-1198.
