After seeing "The Off Hours" at the Rosendale Theater as part of the Woodstock Film Festival, my husband and I decided to eat at Bywater Bistro. There were a lot of people hanging out at the bar, and at first I thought we'd be the only ones eating there. The server asked us if we wanted to eat outside, and we were delighted to find this little oasis in the back of the restaurant. It is very tranquil back there, but the sound of the creek is loud enough that you can't hear your neighbor's conversation too well.
I started with fried tofu sticks in sesame terrayaki sauce. This appetizer was outrageously yummy! I don't say that about tofu very often! My husband had the ceasar salad which was also very good. For the entree we both ordered sandwiches. I had the crab cake and portobello mushroom sandwich and he had the veggie burger. Both were very good! Bywater Bistro has fancier entrees too. Check out their menu. We skipped dessert. Just had coffee which was good, but strong! The service was very friendly too. Bywater Bistro, 419 Main Street, Rosendale, NY 845-658-3210
