Love Bites Cafe, 85 Partition Street, (845) 246-1795
[/caption] Ever since I moved to the Hudson Valley in 2003, I have made it an annual winter tradition to slip on black ice and land on my buttocks. As I zoomed off my front steps, child and backpack in hand, I realized that this was my first "black ice event" of 2009. Fortunately, said child was unharmed and I slowly hobbled on to my car. The morning got better though because my husband and I ended up strolling through the streets of Saugerties in search of lunch, and Love Bites Cafe was open. Love Bites is a very sleek, but cozy cafe that serves excellent French brunch fare and eccletic breakfasts. I've eaten here a few times, and breakfast is always amazing. The hard part is making a selection. I settled on a spinach goat cheese omelet, and my husband had Eggs Your Way with bacon, French bread, and a frittata.
Another good bet is their Green Toast & Eggs. (Toast smeared with avocado & lime with eggs done your way). Coffee will really put hairs on your chest and is served with steamed milk. I hope to make to return many times over the year in order to sample everything. Lovebitescafe.com. They have new hours. 8:30-3:30 pm. Closed Wed. & Thursdays. They are starting to serve dinners on Fridays & Saturdays as well. Believe their website is under construction. The website I have leads to a phony online dating site. Hmmmm....
