Fun-E Farm at the Hudson Valley Mall: Bouncy houses & good times!

Fun-E Farm Barnyard Playhouse opened at the Hudson Valley Mall a few weeks ago. I have been wishing for a bouncy house place like this in the area for a long time! The winters are long here and kids need a place where they can jump and bounce off a lot of energy! There is The Little Gym, of course, but you can't just drop in there any time you want cheaply. At Fun-E Farm, kids can bounce all day for $9.50. A good deal! They are also working on special Drop and Shop and Date Night event times so parents will be able to leave their children their while the Fun-E Farm team supervise them.

I went there on one of their first days. The bouncy houses are very cool. One has a huge slide. There is a quiet lounge near the restrooms in the back, which is perfect if you need to feed a baby, or change a diaper, or catch your breath!

It takes a lot of power to run these bouncy houses and there is music playing in the background so it is quite loud. Just want to keep that in mind in case your kiddies are sensitive to noise. Mine are, but the fun of jumping won over! They also put on birthday parties here. I'm sure this is is one business that will prosper once the word gets out. Severe thunderstorm, power outage, Winchell's pizza & ice cream!

Since moving to the Hudson Valley, I have really become a weather junkie. I follow Weather.com obsessively, and really like Hudson Valley Weather on Facebook.  It seems like most of the time, these crazy thunderstorms seem to bypass Woodstock, and I end up hearing about them from friends in Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Well, today, Woodstock got a good part of the action. It started around 3:30pm. By 4pm, we lost power, branches had gone down, and the poor baby Cardinal in the nest in our tree died from the impact of the wild winds. 

Once the storm had passed, we decided to go out for pizza to Winchell's which is one of our favorite pizza places in the Hudson Valley. The pizza is always delicious! Their soups are good too. We love the appetizers there too, but they are not good if you are trying to watch your cholesterol so we try to control ourselves!  I used to love their appetizers!  Winchell's Pizza, 3187 Route 28, Shokan, NY. (845) 657-3352. 

The power was still out when we came home so we went out for ice cream to bide the time at the Jolly Cow. The power came back on at 10pm. Thank you Central Hudson! 

Family Fun: Meet Kayli the Cow at the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary!

Yesterday was perfect day to visit the animals at the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary because it was overcast and not a great pool day in the morning. Kayli the Cow is a young cow that was recently rescued and she is adorable as you can see. Kayli has an interesting story about escaping from a slaughter house. The kids really love her! There also seemed to be a few New York city types enjoying the volunteer work on the farm. I may get into this one day too. Who knows!
